Richard Mille enjoys a close association with many of the world’s top athletes. And with the 2017 World Championships in Athletics due to occur in early August at London, Richard Mille has announced a set of special watches for just two of its newest ambassadors, Olympic medallists Mutaz Essa Barshim and Wayde van Niekerk. These new watches are called the Richard Mille RM 67-02 High Jump and RM 67-02 Sprint, for the athletes’ various events. Before we discuss the watches, it’s required to talk first about Richard Mille’s latest ambassadors. Mutaz Essa Barshim is a Qatari high jump specialist and now holds the national record and Asian record in high jump with a best mark of 2.43 meters. He even won a silver medal in the 2016 Olympics. He also holds the planet’s best time at the 300-meter. And that’s not all, since he’s also the only sprinter ever to have run the 100 meters in under 10 minutes, the 200 meters at under 20 seconds, the 300 meters in less than 31 seconds, along with the 400 meters at under 44 seconds.Impressive athletes for certain, but definitely also impressive would be the new Richard Mille RM 67-02 Sprint and High Jump watches. The RM 67-02 is based on the earlier Richard Mille RM 67-01 (hands-on here) and may be regarded as the sports version. The two RM 67-02 watches have the identical motion as the RM 67-01, but have various cases which have been designed specifically for the 2 athletes.
The latest iteration of the Richard Mille’s bestselling model is the RM 011 Ceramic NTPT Flyback Chronograph Asia Limited Edition, introduced to mark the opening of the brand’s new store in Singapore.
Unveiled alongside the opening of Richard Mille‘s latest store, located inside Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) in Singapore, the RM 011 Ceramic NTPT Asia Limited Edition is primarily red and white, with a sprinkling of blue accents on the dial. As is typical of all tonneau-shaped Richard Mille watches, the RM 011 Ceramic NTPT Asia Limited Edition has a sandwich case construction, comprising a front and back in white ceramic, with the case band in between made of NTPT carbon. North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT) is a company that produces a particular form of carbon fibre reinforced polymer that offers superior strength due to its construction. When used in a watch, the material has a decorative, woodgrain-like pattern due to the layering of the carbon fibre.
Materials aside the RM 011 Ceramic NTPT Asia Limited Edition is identical to the stock RM 011, with a Vaucher automatic movement with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module featuring a flyback and annual calendar.
